EncDiary Launches on Its Own Domain – Welcome to encdiary.com
Today marks an important milestone for EncDiary: the platform is now available under its new dedicated domain, encdiary.com.
What originally started as an idea for a private digital journal has evolved over the past months into a much broader privacy-first platform. EncDiary is designed to provide a protected space where people can record personal thoughts, track their development, and manage important appointments — with a strong focus on privacy, data protection, and transparent technology.
A Private Place for Personal Thoughts
The personal journal remains at the heart of EncDiary.
Private journal entries are now protected with end-to-end encryption. Encryption and decryption take place directly in the user's browser. The server stores the content only in encrypted form and does not possess the unencrypted vault key required to decrypt it.
Additional personal information associated with a journal entry — such as mood, tags, or voluntarily entered body measurements — is also stored within the encrypted data.
An Encrypted Personal Calendar
In addition to the journal, EncDiary now includes a personal calendar.
It can be used to manage medical appointments, therapy or counseling sessions, personal appointments, and other important events.
Sensitive details such as the appointment title, doctor or practice, specialty, location, and personal notes are also encrypted directly in the browser.
Certain technical metadata, such as the date and time of an appointment, may still be processed by the server to provide calendar functionality and appointment management. We want to communicate transparently which information EncDiary can technically process and which information remains encrypted.
Your Personal Recovery Key
An important question for any end-to-end encrypted system is what happens if a password is lost.
For this reason, EncDiary provides users with a personal Recovery Key, which can be used to restore access to their encrypted vault.
The Recovery Key belongs exclusively to the user and should be stored in a safe place.
If both the password and Recovery Key are lost, EncDiary does not have a master key that can simply restore access to private encrypted content.
Community and Forum
Alongside its private features, EncDiary is also designed to provide a space for people to connect and support one another.
The community forum enables discussions across a variety of topics — from everyday life and personal experiences to identity, transition, helpful resources, and creative projects.
Member profiles remain part of the closed community. They are not publicly accessible to visitors or search engines and can only be viewed by logged-in EncDiary members.
Privacy Instead of Advertising Tracking
EncDiary deliberately avoids traditional third-party tracking services.
For basic usage statistics, we use our own privacy-conscious solution. It is intended to help us understand how the platform is being used without creating detailed user profiles for advertising purposes.
The newly configured Google Search Console is used solely to understand how EncDiary's public pages appear and perform in Google Search. It does not require additional Google tracking code to be embedded throughout the platform.
Continued Technical Development
Over the past several weeks, development has focused not only on adding new features but also on improving many of EncDiary's technical foundations.
These improvements include the E2EE architecture for the journal and calendar, recovery mechanisms, additional protections for sessions and authentication, as well as improvements to routing, search-engine metadata, canonical URLs, language annotations, and sitemaps.
Performance also remains an important priority. Current Lighthouse tests achieve a Performance score of 100 on desktop and 99 on mobile.
Available in German and English
EncDiary is currently available in German and English.
The public areas of the platform are also being progressively optimized for both languages so that search engines can correctly understand and distinguish between the different language versions.
This Is Only the Beginning
The move to encdiary.com is not the end of development — it marks the beginning of EncDiary's next phase.
The platform will continue to evolve. New features will first be considered with privacy and security in mind and then introduced gradually.
We also want EncDiary to grow deliberately. Rather than immediately launching a large advertising campaign, the platform will initially focus on organic discovery and continue to mature alongside its first users.
Thank You for Your Trust
Trust should never be taken for granted — especially for a platform where people may store deeply personal thoughts and information.
That is why we do not want to make claims such as “100% secure.” Security is an ongoing process.
Instead, our goal is simple:
Privacy by Design, transparent technology, and as little necessary knowledge as possible about our users' private content.
Welcome to EncDiary.com. 💗
